Poké Perfect Commitment
Read all about Poké Perfect Impact Plan and help us reduce our C02 emissions. There is no Planet B!
Climate change is real
Did you know that the food industry is responsible for 26% of all CO2 emissions worldwide? It's shocking, but it's true. We feel responsible for doing our part and working to offset our bowls' carbon impact. Climate change affects the world as we know it immensely. The consequences regarding the weather and therefore the (lack of) harvests and availability of food are already apparent. It's time to make a change.
Climate labeled bowls
We have added climate labels to all our signature bowls, displaying the carbon footprint of each meal in kg CO2e. These labels show whether the bowl of your choice is equivalent to a low, medium, or high climate impact. A climate-neutral choice is an emission below 0.5 CO2kg. This number is based on the goals set forth by the 2015 Paris Climate agreement.
We've divided our menu into fish, vegan, and meat bowls, with each bowl having its dedicated climate label. Our aim is to be transparent about the impact our bowls have. This way, we can actively work towards reducing the emission of the bowls on our menu - for example, by working with a local supplier or more sustainable growers. This is not always easy. The Netherlands is small, and our country doesn't grow all ingredients used in poké bowls. However, having the impact insightful will guide us in our future decisions. There is no planet B!
We are proud that our signature bowls are already 44% below the average CO2 emissions per meal worldwide.
Poké Perfect Impact Plan
We have worked with Klimato to add climate labels to all our signature bowls. They are calculated with the Life Cycle Analysis methodology, assessing the greenhouse gas emissions of each ingredient.
This method examines the CO2e impact from the first day they were planted all the way up to their processing and distribution. The final carbon footprint is the sum of the emissions from each stage.
These labels do not take into account the impact on the environment we have as a physical business. Besides the ingredients in our bowls, other processes within our business create carbon emissions, such as heating our buildings or the use of water and soap to clean dishes. We are dedicated to mapping out the full impact of all aspects of our business. This project called the Poké Perfect Impact Plan is ongoing and we will keep you updated moving forward. ongoing and we will keep you updated on progress.
How can you help?
Sometimes you just really crave tempura shrimp or slow-cooked beef even though these bowls have a higher carbon footprint. We now offer the possibility to offset the carbon emission of your bowl. For €0.25 per bowl, you can compensate the carbon footprint at the register to make your dish climate neutral and we will donate all proceeds equally to the charities (a.o. Trees for All).
Offset your carbon footprint and we'll donate to charity
Trees for All is committed to planting trees around the world. Trees sequester carbon, provide us with oxygen, food, coolness, help regulate water and increase biodiversity. In short, trees are incredibly important in tackling climate change. Trees for All is a CBF-certified ANBI organisation and has already raised almost 500,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions worldwide.
